Every Job Has its Benefits

Every job has its benefits, for me has been life-long-learning.
If it wasn’t for all these little, random jobs, there would be many things, I would not know and made me into a better and knowledgeable person.
My first job, I work in a mom and pops grocery store. I can say that store taught me a lot. I was fresh out of the island, with very little English knowledge. I was also 13. I learned responsibility, cashing checks, how a register works, how inventory is made and how to order things by demographics. I also learned how to count large quantities of money and deal with many types of people from different backgrounds. Needless to said by the time I left that store, I knew fluent English, and I left as a Manager.
I remember working at a fast-food restaurant. That thought me, how to be fast and efficient, and that people complain about the smallest things, but you never know why they are being bitchy, so you treat them nice.  I also learn that just because its label “meat” doesn’t mean its high-quality meat.
I worked in a clothing store. I learned how to fold HUGE sweaters in a neat matter, that to this day, people are amazed at my folding skills.
I also learned at another job, that the 3 prong plugs, have a grounding prong, that helps them protect them from surges. I also learned that you can power mini LED lights with watch batteries. I learn that salespeople will go to extremes to make a sale, and some will even lie to get you on your side. However, when we sale, we are knowledgeable about the product, we just do white lies to gain your trust.
I learned to be nice to people working in retail, especially on holidays. They have spent so much time behind the scenes to make the store perfect for your convenience, and are tired and grumpy because they have not seen their families for days, or won’t be home for the holidays.
I also learn, that EMS people we curse a lot behind the scenes, and we use codes to communicate information you don’t want other people to understand or to feel offended by. They are also so many people that lie about their conditions, so they can pass the waiting on the emergency room.  For example, if you feel like death but, there are a million-people waiting on the waiting room, say you are short of breath of have chest pain, and they will triage you first. They will find out you are lying but they won’t say anything, and you probably still must wait. But now you are done with triage. That’s a mess up tip…. I would not do it, unless you really feeling like you can’t breathe and your chest it’s going to explode.
Working in a hair salon, I learned that with SUPER curly hair using a comb behind the straightener, you will get less frizz, and will get the individual strands better, and always use small chunks of hair.
Oh my, the things I have learn on a call center, I will bore you to death with an essay. But, there is always someone higher that can do something about your issue. If you know you are right and entitle to it. Do not give up!
I learned that coffee comes from different continents, and they have specific flavors because of the flora around the coffee grounds.
I have learned way more than I can type today in this blog. I would have to really break it by job, and type one entry per job. But, my point is, just because it’s a small job, and you might not be getting paid what you want. Look at the benefits to it. Learn everything you can. Because it will help you in the future.
